Launch and Recovery Training Support
As part of the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate, our veteran specialists support the Artemis/Orion mission by providing pool and offshore instruction of the Orion Manual Up-Righting System (MUPS) to the interagency (NASA, Navy, US Air Force) Landing and Recovery Team. In addition, we provide watercraft training and NASA-approved line splicing to create towing, up-righting, and recovery designs for the SpaceX Dragon.
Underwater Pre-Flight Crew Training
Our role in support of pre-flight EVA crew training involves a professional dive staff with individuals with over 1000 hours of diving experience coupled with special forces military training. We are responsible for closely monitoring the underwater test subject’s state of health, facilitating operating needs, and communicating associated risks with the test team to ensure the safety of the test subject while maintaining an acceptable test flow.

Range Operations
In support of NASA and NASA commercial space customers’ launch vehicles (aircraft, UASs, sounding rockets, ELVs, balloons, ground test articles, and satellites), our team ensures the maintenance, sustainment, and readiness of existing fixed and mobile range systems and capabilities. Our Telemetry operations services group is responsible for telemetry receiving, decoding, recording, relaying, and displaying data for each mission. In addition, our certified radar operators mechanically and electrically maintain and sustain fixed and mobile radar instrumentation services for mission support locally as well as worldwide. We are responsible for providing meteorological services such as weather forecasting, upper air and ozone data, and pre-launch data collection for blast dispersion required for launches.
Specialized Laboratory Services
Our team supports the operation and maintenance of developmental shops and test facilities in support of NASA and NASA commercial space customers. We operate sampling equipment to obtain a wide variety of aerospace fluid commodities (hypergols, cryogens, high-pressure gases) for analysis to stringent purity specifications. We also perform precision chemical cleaning, decontamination, and passivation of fluid systems to specifications. We provide quality assurance support to ensure specifications are met, as well as monitor equipment disassembly/reassembly and decontamination operations.

Facility Operations and Maintenance
REI provides resources and services to maintain and sustain NASA center facilities. These services ensure facilities remain safe and operational for personnel use daily. Our teams not only identify issues, but also repair, perform installations, maintain housekeeping, manufacture custom components, perform recurring preventive maintenance, and routinely ensure site facility equipment remains certified, operational, and ready for use.
Space Flight Cargo and Distribution Center Logistics
Since 2003 REI has been involved in supporting the NASA International Space Station (ISS) by preparing, transporting, and recovering cargo to and from NASA vehicle launch locations. Since 2011, the contract team has been responsible for moving up to 247,000 lb. (112,037 kg) of cargo a total travel distance of 950,000 miles (1,528,877 Km). Supplies and cargo moved to include, but are not limited to, certified flight space hardware, science experiments, decals, individual flight crew equipment, cargo transfer bags, food, and crew personal items. We have creative engineering technicians analyzing cargo and designing custom foam transport enclosures to ensure articles arrive unblemished as intended by our customers.
